WELCOME!

We are a small, friendly and unpretentious walking club based in Edinburgh. Our members have a wide range of experience. Some have completed all the Munros (Scottish mountains over 914m)and are returning to these for their umpteenth time, while others have no such ambitions. We always welcome and encourage new walkers of all ages and abilities.

Walks are scheduled for most Sundays whatever the weather, rain, snow or shine. All walks have experienced leaders and are graded to suit different levels of fitness. Transport is provided using members cars and the fuel costs are shared equally. You might also want to bring along some 'spend' for a possible coffee stop on the outward trip and a pub visit on the journey home, as well as a change of clothes.

Grades of walks

'A' - These walks include all the Munros and other mountains of a demanding nature.

'B' - These are less demanding walks and include Corbetts (Scottish Mountains over 792m) and distance walks with less steep inclines.

Cost

The present annual subscription is £7 and £5 concession (including unemployed). You can walk with the club for free on two occassions, before we will expect the subscription to be paid.

Holiday Weekends

These are a regular and popular feature of our programme. The keynote is economy - hostels and B&Bs are commonly used and self-catering where possible. Destinations over the past year have included Glenmore, Oban, Braemar and Skye.

Sports and Social Events

There's more to our high life than mountains ! As well as food and wine tasting evenings there are organised visits to places of special interest. Biking of the pedal variety (BYOB) comes round fairly often, and we have very popular groups who play badminton and climb during the week.
