Below is very old news, we have so many outings to talk about, but too disorganised to write them up.

SEVEN MUNROES in ONE WEEKEND
YES !!!!!

Braemar Weekend - The first weekend in May '02 saw more than 20 of us descend on Braemar. Caroline womanfully organised three cottages for the rabble, while the captain and a few friends stayed in B&Bs. The weather was kind, and the town friendly. The Chip shop was well attended, though the food in The Fife Arms cannot be recommended.

As the headline implies, the 'A' walkers showed great strength, courage and determination !! Four peaks on Saturday, two on Sunday and one on Monday. What an achievement. May be they were only boring green mounds, but we can justifiably be proud of ourselves; We partied as well don’t forget. The company, as always, made these mountains a lot less boring, and the good weather helped a little too. It was a bit of a struggle walking 4 kms just to gain 2m in height on Monday, but we managed it.

The ‘B’ walkers also had two good days. We all met up for dinner on Saturday night.

Skye, the Majestic Island

Skye Weekend (17-20/5/02) - After a weekend of doing nothing (12/5) we were all geared up for more Munros, meals and gossip. Seven cars, carrying 23 people roared up and over the Skye bridge on Friday 17th. Caroline again organised accommodation, this time we took over the independent hostel in Portree (lovely place), two camped, while the captain and a few friends stayed in B&Bs at Carbost.

On Saturday Vince led the largest group up Bruach Na Frithe, David Barry's group did Sgurr nan Gillian, while Harry's group climbed the airy peak of Sgurr Alisdair; and Edward with Rob left at 5am to tackle half the ridge. We all had a great time, and returned to our accommodation tired but happy. The Portree crowd ate in an excellent Indian Restaurant, and the rumours are that later that night the Portree police were busy chasing dangerous cyclists, but we mention no names.

On Sunday confusion reigned and we unfortunately left Caroline in the hostel car park (in tears). This is best described in Diane's poem. We are all truly sorry.

While we were all happily ignorant of the situation, Harry's group believe they climbed Blaven (though the mist and rain made it difficult to guess). David Barry's group walked the Quaraing, and Vince led the 'B' walkers for an impressive 10 hours over McLeod's Table and McLeod's Maidens - serves them right for choosing a B walk.

Monday the weather was still poor, so we left early and enjoyed the journey home.
